Berlin fair to showcase Dominican Republic’s enchantments and diversity

Berlin’s International Tourism Bourse (ITB), the biggest fair of its type in the world, is slated to start in that city on Wednesday, a backdrop in which Tourism minister Francisco Javier Garcia said he’ll promote Dominican Republic and discuss agreements with airlines, tour operators and travel agencies during the next few years.

He said 4.1 million tourists visited the country in the last year alone, contributing more than US$4.0 billion to the national economy. “This scenario, which gathers around 180,000 visitors and more than 11,000 exhibitors, is not only the perfect platform for the country to continue touting its qualities in front of international window shoppers; it’s also a business center to renew and materialize agreements with this sector’s leaders.”

He said for this ITB edition the country features a 300 square meter pavilion to showcase the destination’s enchantments and diversity.

During the event in Berlin’s Messe Convention Center, Garcia will meet with the top executives of the airlines which land on Dominican soil, to discuss the high fuel prices, among others topics.

PARTICIPANTS

In this edition the country will have representatives of major companies such as the Banco Popular Dominicano, Punta Cana International Airport, Scotiabank, Playa Dorada Hotels Association, Punta Cana Resorts, Hard Rock Hotel, Viva Wyndham Resorts, AMSA Marina Hotels & Resorts, Casa de Campo, Hospitality Chorale among others.
