DEA and other federal agents in Baltimore yesterday seized cocaine and heroin whose street value is more than US$100,000, which investigator say was transported from Dominican Republic aboard a ship of company Royal Caribbean Cruises.
The agents boarded the ship once it docked berthed in the port of Baltimore on the weekend, says an official statement, and found around 11.5 pounds of heroin and almost one of cocaine on board the ship Enchantment of the Seas.
Helped by trained dogs, the authorities found narcotics in a closed compartment accessible only to the crewmembers of one of the world’s “floating palaces.”
A statement from the Customs and Border Protection Agency (CBP) says there were no immediate arrests in connection with the finding.
The boat docked in Baltimore after a 12 day cruise to various Caribbean islands and it’s the second time federal agents find drugs on board in just one month.
