Statistics keep the direction of the "Junta Agroempresarial Dominicana (JAD) happy. They highlight the effort made by producers to keep other products in the world market, like cocoa, coffee and mango.
For the executive director of JAD, the rise in organic banana exports is an achievement for the country, as in the 2010 they just reached the US$70,000,000.
Osmar Benitez explained that, while in 1989, the Dominican Republic wasn't in the world statistics for organic exports, but is now in first place as exporting nation.
He assured that a world tendency is being developed for the consumption of organic products and its market offers a big chance for the Dominican Republic as a producing country.
